In a concerted effort to combat vaccine-preventable diseases, UNICEF, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, and the Ministry of Health, has launched the 2024 Integrated Supplemental Immunization Activities (SIA). This initiative aims to protect millions of residents from various life-threatening diseases through a series of targeted vaccination campaigns.
WHAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC MUST KNOW ABOUT VACCINATION AGAINST VARIOUS DISEASES.
Polio Vaccination (0-59 months): “Polio is a crippling disease that can be prevented with a simple vaccine. By vaccinating our children against polio, we ensure they grow up healthy and strong.”
Routine Immunization (0-23 months): “Routine immunizations are essential for protecting our children from multiple diseases. Every child deserves the chance to be healthy and thrive.”
Measles Vaccination (9-59 months): “Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be deadly. The measles vaccine is safe and highly effective in protecting our children.”
Yellow Fever Vaccination (9 months to 44 years): “Yellow fever is a serious disease that can spread rapidly. Vaccination is the best protection against this life-threatening illness.”
HPV Vaccination for Girls (9-14 years): “The HPV vaccine protects our daughters from cervical cancer. It is a gift of health and future well-being.”
Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) for Girls and Women (15-49 years): “The Td vaccine protects our daughters and women from tetanus and diphtheria. This will protect them against such diseases.”
