It was an evening of glitz, glamour, and heartfelt celebration as the former Chairperson of the Lagos Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Dr. (Mrs.) Adeola Ekine, marked her 50th birthday in a colorful ceremony that radiated elegance and joy.

The golden jubilee celebration, held at her residence in Mowe Ogun state was graced by family members, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers, particularly from the media community. The atmosphere brimmed with laughter, music, and nostalgic tributes as guests took turns to celebrate a woman many described as selfless, vibrant, and inspiring.

Speaking about the celebrant, a close associate described Dr. Ekine as “a woman of substance, courage, and compassion, who accommodates everyone and fosters unity among colleagues.” Known affectionately as Aunty Deola, she is admired for her warmth, spontaneity, and genuine commitment to empowering others, especially women in the journalism profession.

Dr. Ekine currently serves as the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Lagos State Printing Corporation. Before her current role, she had served in various capacities across Lagos State ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Information, where her professionalism and dedication earned her wide respect.

As the former Chairperson of NAWOJ Lagos, Dr. Ekine’s six-year tenure was marked by groundbreaking initiatives that strengthened the association’s visibility and impact in the media landscape. Her leadership was instrumental in advocating for gender equity, professional development, and the empowerment of female journalists across the state.

She also currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), further underscoring her continued relevance and influence in the nation’s media community.

The celebration was not just about marking a milestone age—it was a tribute to a life of service, mentorship, and resilience. The Radiant Africa Media Team joins family, friends, and colleagues in wishing Dr. Adeola Ekine many more years of good health, happiness, and impactful service to humanity.
