IGP Appoints AIG Nkechi Eze As Pioneer Director Of Force Medical Services— Egbetokun says move aligns with police reform, improved welfare drive

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, as the Pioneer Director of the newly created Directorate of Force Medical Services.
The appointment, according to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate — a major reform initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Egbetokun explained that the establishment of the Directorate underscores the Force leadership’s commitment to institutionalizing a comprehensive, accessible, and efficient medical system for police officers and their families.
AIG Nkechi Eze, a seasoned clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings to her new office over 27 years of outstanding service. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and a native of Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Throughout her career, she has served in several police medical formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, contributing significantly to the advancement of police healthcare and personnel welfare.
While congratulating her, the IGP urged AIG Eze to deploy her vast experience and administrative competence to reposition the Directorate as a model of excellence in police healthcare delivery.
He emphasized that the creation of the Directorate represents a strategic investment in the well-being and productivity of police personnel, adding that the health of officers is central to the operational efficiency of the force.
