NAWOJ Lagos Pays Courtesy Visit To NUJ Deputy National President, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde

The Executives and members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos Chapter, have paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abimbola Abosede Oyetunde, at her office in Broadcasting House, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Dr. Oyetunde, the first female Deputy National President of the NUJ, was recently appointed Bureau Chief, Network, and Deputy Director of News at the Directorate Headquarters Annex of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). The appointment was in recognition of her trailblazing career and sustained commitment to the welfare of journalists, particularly women in the media.
Speaking during the visit,
Chairperson of NAWOJ Lagos, Mrs. Jumoke Johnson, commended Dr. Oyetunde for her outstanding contributions to the protection of journalists’ rights in Nigeria and her impactful years of service at FRCN. She described Dr. Oyetunde as a torchbearer and role model whose achievements continue to inspire women journalists across the country.
Mrs. Johnson expressed pride in having Dr. Oyetunde as a member resident in the Lagos Chapter and appealed for her continued support and mentorship. She also recalled that Dr. Oyetunde previously served as General Manager of Bronze FM, Benin City, where she spent nearly a decade in service.
The NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson further briefed the NUJ Deputy National President on the association’s programmes and plans for the new year, aimed at advancing the mission and vision of NAWOJ.
In her response, Dr. Oyetunde thanked the delegation for the honour and urged the executives to explore additional platforms and initiatives to further strengthen the Lagos Chapter of NAWOJ. She expressed appreciation for the visit and offered prayers for the success of the association in the new year.
