NAWOJ LAGOS EXCO PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO NAN LAGOS DIRECTOR.

The Lagos State Executive Council of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Lagos Operations of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Hajia Hadizah Ifeyinwa Omowole.
The visit, described as a mark of respect to a mother in the association and former President of NAWOJ, was held at the NAN Lagos office. Though subdued by the recent death of a NAN staff member and NAWOJ member, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie.
Leading the delegation, the Lagos NAWOJ Chairperson, Jumoke Johnson, commended Hajia Omowole for her enduring leadership and mentorship of young female journalists across the country. She described the NAN Director as a role model who embodies the ideals of integrity, courage, and professionalism in journalism.
Johnson also highlighted Omowole’s recent conferment as Arolashe Adinni of Nigeria by the Nimatullahi Wa Rahma Muslim Congregation of Nigeria, noting that the honour reflects her commitment to service, faith, and community development.
According to the Chairperson, Omowole remains a truth-seeker, intelligent journalist, eloquent speaker, and seasoned leader who continually leverages her vast experience to uplift others within the profession.
The NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson also commiserated with the NAN Director over the passing of Mojirola Eniola, a judiciary correspondent with NAN, describing her death as a painful loss to the journalism community.
In her response, Hajia Omowole welcomed the Exco members and charged them to approach leadership of NAWOJ with seriousness and vision. She stressed that leading the association is a responsibility that demands dedication and urged the team to build a legacy that would endure long after their tenure.
She further pointed out several untakpped opportunities that could be harnessed to advance the growth and welfare of women journalists in Lagos State.
Also present at the meeting was NAN Deputy Editor-in-Chief, in Ayaba Omobola Akigbehin, a former Vice President of NAWOJ B-Zone, who offered words of encouragement and strategic advice to the Exco members. The National Assistant Secretary of NAWOJ, Mrs. Aisha Cole, was equally in attendance.
The visit culminated in an interactive session at the NAN newsroom involving women journalists, where robust discussions centred on strengthening unity, enhancing professional development, and repositioning NAWOJ as a formidable and enviable body of women journalists working in synergy.
The engagement ended with a renewed commitment by the Lagos Exco and members present to foster collaboration and elevate the association to greater heights.
