BAYELSA STATE GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH SILEC INITIATIVES FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT.

BY FAKEYE ADERONKE.
In a deliberate move to empower the youth and curb social vices, the Bayelsa State Government has announced a partnership with Silec Initiatives, a renowned non-profit organization.
This collaboration is part of Governor Douye Diri’s ongoing efforts to transform the lives of young people in the state through meaningful socio-economic activities, aligning with his Prosperity Agenda.
Governor Diri, known for his commitment to youth development and infrastructural growth, has approved this partnership to address critical issues affecting the youth.
The official approval was conveyed through Mrs. Owanari Rowland Harry, the Special Adviser on Trade and Investment to the Governor. In her statement, Mrs. Harry highlighted the governor’s dedication to youth engagement and economic growth, emphasizing the impactful programs of Silec Initiatives.

Ambassador Sunny Irakpo, the Founder and President of Silec Initiatives, expressed his gratitude to Governor Diri for prioritizing youth development. He praised the governor’s vision and the appointment of Mrs. Harry, noting her potential to drive significant positive change in the state.
Ambassador Irakpo, an anti-drug advocate and U.S. Government Exchange alumnus, reiterated the importance of this partnership in making Bayelsa’s youth globally competitive and socially responsible.
This partnership follows Silec Initiatives’ successful anti-drug campaign in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, in 2022, which garnered widespread support and calls for more initiatives to combat social vices among the youth.
Founder/president Silec Initiatives, Amb. Sunny Irakpo, however, appealed to the youth to shun social vices and join this life transforming movement that will attract development in line with His Excellency’s Prosperity Agenda. He further called on other governors to emulate this leadership example to give more meaning to the lives of the youth in Nigeria.
The collaboration between Bayelsa State Government and Silec Initiatives is expected to bring about substantial improvements in youth engagement, infrastructural development, and economic growth, furthering the state’s Prosperity Agenda.
