CHAIRMAN OKEOWO LEADS INSPECTION TOUR OF COMPLETED AND ONGOING PROJECTS IN IFELODUN LCDA

Council Reaffirms Commitment to Roads, Drainage, Health and Market Infrastructure.

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, today led members of the Executive Council, the Legislative Arm, and Senior Management Staff on an extensive inspection tour of legacy and ongoing projects across the council.

The tour was aimed at assessing the quality of work, progress on timelines, and direct impact of projects on residents’ welfare.

The delegation moved through several strategic locations within the LCDA. Projects inspected include:

Ongoing Projects:
1. Phase 2, Oyedeji Street – Road Construction and Drainage

2. Ogungbe Street – Road Construction and Drainage

3. Olubuade Street– Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

4. Ultra-Modern Primary Health Centre, PHC – Construction Works

5. Sola Oluwole Street– Road and Drainage

6. Osime Street – Road and Drainage

7. Market Street – Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

8.Remodeling of Safejo Roundabout

Completed Projects Delivered in 2025:

1. Igbaja Street– Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

2. Adegboyega Street – Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

3. Edidi Street– Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

4. Muda Street – Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

5. Ofure Street – Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

6. Coker Road / Fijabi Corridor – Road, Drainage and Solar Street Lighting

7. Olokodana Street – Road and Drainage

8. Ladega Street – Road and Drainage

At the road and drainage sites, the team inspected road surfaces, drainage channels, kerbs, and signage. Special attention was given to the Market/Coker Road/Fijabi corridor for planned improvements to ease market access, enhance vendor safety, and improve traffic flow.

At the Ultra-Modern PHC, the delegation reviewed finishing works, utility installations, and preparations for the deployment of medical equipment and personnel. The facility is designed to significantly upgrade primary healthcare delivery and create job opportunities upon completion.

Mayor Dr. Okeowo commended contractors and project teams for steady progress. He charged them to maintain high quality standards and adhere strictly to agreed completion timelines.

He stated that the projects reflect his administration’s priority to improve residents’ daily lives through better road networks, efficient drainage to curb flooding, accessible healthcare, and safer market environments.

He urged residents to support the works and to report issues or concerns through official council channels for prompt attention.

Council legislators led by the Leader, Hon. Ilesanmi Oluwatosin Elijah and Executive members who spoke during the tour pledged continued legislative oversight and community engagement to ensure timely delivery and value for public funds.

The Council Manager, Mr. Saheed Abiodun Azeez, assured that the Department of Works will compile inspection reports, address all deficiencies observed with contractors, and fast-track procurement or repairs where necessary.

Residents along corridors where works have been completed have already reported reduced flooding, improved pedestrian access, and smoother vehicular movement. The new Ultra-Modern PHC is expected to boost healthcare access for thousands of residents when operational.
