Dr. Olalere Oloruntobi Lifts Ondo Community With Over ₦150m Education, Empowerment Initiatives

In a major humanitarian gesture,a foreign-based indigene of Okeagbe-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Dr. Sunday Olalere Oloruntobi, has embarked on a major humanitarian intervention valued at over ₦150 million, aimed at easing the burden on students, traders, and vulnerable residents in the area
As part of the first phase of the programme, Dr. Oloruntobi paid the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) registration fees for all 1,246 registered students across the 20 public secondary schools in the local government. The gesture cuts across schools in Okeagbe, Arigidi, Ogbagi, Ikaramu, Irun, Ajowa, Erusu, Igashi, Afin, Ese and other communities within the council area.
Speaking on behalf of the benefactor, his representative, Mr. Olumide Victor Aliu, said the intervention was designed to give back to the grassroots and ensure that no eligible student is denied the opportunity to sit for the NECO examination due to financial constraints.
“The gesture is meant to put smiles on the faces of our people and to give back to the community where Dr. Oloruntobi was raised,” Aliu said. “The programme has been carefully structured in three phases, with the payment of NECO registration fees for all registered students in the 20 public secondary schools forming the first phase.”

He explained that the second phase involves the disbursement of ₦1 million each to 105 beneficiaries to support and promote local businesses in Okeagbe-Akoko, amounting to over ₦105 million.
The third phase, he added, is a monthly stipend of ₦10,000 for more than 100 elderly persons and widows in the community, totalling about ₦1 million every month.
Aliu noted that the education support initiative has lifted a huge financial burden off parents, many of whom are subsistence farmers and petty traders struggling with meagre incomes.
He described Dr. Oloruntobi as a kind-hearted and illustrious son of the soil who has refused to forget his roots, stressing that the intervention demonstrates how collective and individual contributions can drive grassroots development.
“By embarking on these empowerment programmes in our local government, he has shown that communities can be developed when indigenes contribute their quota,” Aliu said.
According to him, Dr. Oloruntobi remains committed to sustained community development and humanitarian support within Akoko North West Local Government Area, with a focus on education, economic empowerment and social welfare.
